Jane Turner, Teesside University

Professor Turner is Pro Vice-Chancellor at Teesside University, responsible for the Enterprise and Business Engagement Strategy. 

Jane is passionate about the North East having grown up here and considers herself to be in her ideal role, enabling her to collaborate with like-minded people to co-create a new future for the region. Jane is responsible for all knowledge exchange activities which deliver a significant income stream, student and graduate start-ups, strategic partnerships and the employability of Teesside University graduates.  She is energised by opportunities to collaborate, innovate and develop approaches and solutions that challenge convention and transform individuals, teams, organisations and ultimately the region. Jane is the University gender champion, driving gender equality across the region and features in the Northern Power Women Power List in 2018. Jane is working with Simone Roche to raise the profile, aspiration and visibility of women in the Tees Valley.  

Jane sits on various Boards and is a member of the Tees Valley Mayoral Development Corporation with a remit to create a future vision and strategy for regeneration and growth in the Tees Valley and a Governor of the Royal Grammar School Newcastle.  

Jane was awarded an OBE in 2017 for her services to Business Engagement and was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant for County Durham in April 2018.
