David Wrigley has been a chef all his working life and still works for Middlesbrough Football Club on match days, as well running his own business. It was at the club David got the idea for Proteina, after overhearing a conversation that the first team were looking for a high protein ice-cream. At the time, David had just started making Italian gelato so the idea sparked his interest and after further research he could find only one product on the market. After buying and sampling this he decided he could do better. Putting all his knowledge of gelato and nutrition together he created Proteina, a complete nutritional gelato. David is also an artisan bread maker and trained pastry chef and creates desserts for many hotels and restaurants.
