The Business Enterprise Fund (BEF) is a not-for-profit social enterprise that was established as a subsidiary of the West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce in 2004. Its mission is to provide flexible finance to SME businesses to help them thrive and grow. BEF tailor its lending to assure sustainable growth and improvement to the wealth of the regional economy and the people it serves. Its loans to SME businesses are often arranged when other lenders can’t fully assist and its profits are re-invested in the company to further its social aims. Alongside its existing funds, BEF also deliver Microfinance (loans between £25,000 and £100,000) for the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund (NPIF) to businesses in Yorkshire and the Tees Valley. This is done in partnership with Finance For Enterprise.
